We are seeking a Junior Ruby Backend Developer. In this role, we will support you in writing and executing integration tests for our backend systems. Proficiency in Ruby is an essential skill for writing automated tests. You will work closely with our Product team and Development team to ensure the quality and reliability of our software products. 

Integration Test Development 

  • Design integration tests to ensure efficient backend functionality using Ruby. 
  • Devise test scenarios for the system architecture with the development team. 
  • Use tracking tools to document and track defects to resolve issues efficiently. 


Quality Assurance & Collaboration 

  • Learn how to test requirements and integrate QA processes into dev workflows. 
  • Share knowledge and code reviews to understand quality objectives. 
  • Provide timely feedback on product quality and potential improvements. 


Agile Development Participation 

  • Learn efficient working through regular workflow planning and daily standups. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and refine user stories, aligning with business objectives and customer expectations. 
  • Learn to prioritize testing strategies for evolving project requirements.  


Process Improvement Initiatives 

  • Drive the continuous improvement of processes and best practices. 
  • Learn & implement automation frameworks and tools to optimize testing. 
  • Analyze defect trends and testing bottlenecks to refine testing strategies. 


Innovation and Technology Exploration

  • Experiment with innovative testing approaches, such as AI-driven testing. 
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Person Specification

The candidate who would be successful in this role would have the following essential skills: 

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Ruby.
  • An understanding and interest in Agile development methodologies 
  • Interest in designing integration tests for backend systems, including API interactions, data flow validations, and system integrations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams 
  • Experience in identifying, documenting, and tracking defects. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 
  • A proven record of accomplishment with an ability to self-motivate. 
  • A love of how technology disrupts incumbent business models. 
  • High attention to detail. 
  • Enthusiasm and a growth mindset. 
  • A reliable work ethic: a willingness to contribute when needed, even if the task is not strictly in your job description. 

It would be desirable that the candidate have: 

  • Some experience in exploring and implementing automation frameworks and tools to enhance testing efficiency and accelerate feedback loops. 
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and methodologies in quality assurance, such as AI-driven testing & chaos engineering. 
  • An interest in driving process improvement initiatives, analyzing defect trends, and implementing targeted enhancements. 
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience in software quality assurance roles. 
  • Certification in relevant quality assurance methodologies or tools, such as ISTQB, Certified Agile Tester, or similar qualifications, demonstrating a commitment to professional development in QA practices.
