You're a quality-first software tester with a passion for ensuring reliable, bug-free experiences. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are excited about writing automated tests that simulate real-world user journeys. You’re comfortable working with Ruby-based testing frameworks like RSpec and Capybara, and you enjoy collaborating with developers to anticipate and eliminate issues before they reach users. You want to be part of a team that values ownership, clarity, and continuous improvement.
Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for backend and frontend systems
Use tools like RSpec, Capybara, Selenium, or Playwright to create effective tests
Ensure strong coverage across core user flows, integrations, and edge cases
2. Quality Assurance
Identify and prioritise gaps in test coverage and system reliability
Investigate test failures and assist in root cause analysis
Collaborate closely with developers and QA to triage and resolve issues
3. Testing Strategy and Process Improvement
Contribute to defining and evolving Avvoka’s automation testing strategy
Advocate for testing best practices and efficient test architecture
Help streamline test execution in our CI/CD pipeline
4. Team Collaboration
Work with product and engineering teams to understand upcoming features and changes
Participate in planning sessions and provide test estimates and insights
Engage in peer reviews and share QA knowledge within the team
5. Continuous Learning and Innovation
Stay up to date with the latest testing tools, frameworks, and practices
Propose new tools or approaches to improve test quality and speed
Take part in retrospectives and post-mortems to ensure quality insights are acted on
The ideal candidate could have:
Hands-on experience writing automated tests using RSpec and Ruby
Strong understanding of test-driven development and clean, maintainable code
Experience testing modern web applications with a strong QA mindset
The desirable candidate could have:
Familiarity with frontend testing tools (e.g., Capybara, Selenium, Playwright)
Knowledge of CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or CircleCI
